O ator Steven Weber, ex-Wings e The Weber Show foi escalado para o papel principal de Studio 7 On the Sunset Strip, segundo nota publicada pelo TV Guide. Studio 7 é a nova comédia que Aaron Sorkin, o criador de The West Wing, está desenvolvendo para a rede NBC. Weber fará o papel de produtor de um programa humorístico ao vivo, aos moldes do Saturday Night Live. Segundo o site, Weber não era a primeira opção para o papel: Matthew Perry (Friends) e Bradley Whitford (The West Wing) eram os preferidos, mas recusaram.
