De uma série dramática jurídica para um musical. É assim a carreira do ator Jesse L. Martin, conhecido pelo trabalho em Law & Order, e que acaba de conquistar um papel em Smash.
No história da NBC, produzida por Steven Spielberg, Martin será o diretor artístico de uma companhia de teatro, que tem ligações mais fortes com diversos personagens da história. Ele atenderá pelo nome de Scott Welker.
Vale ressaltar que Jesse L. Martin não é nenhum novato em musicais e já esteve em Rent, produção da famosa Broadway, em Nova Iorque.
Além dele, cantora e atriz Jennifer Hudson (vencedora do Oscar por Dreamgirls) e Sean Hayes (Will & Grace) também participam da próxima temporada da atração, que retorna na midseason da TV americana, entre 2012 e 2013.
