A 72ª edição do Golden Globe Awards, realizada neste domingo, dia 11 de janeiro, foi marcada pela novidade. A Associação de Imprensa Estrangeira de Hollywood, escolheu The Affair, do canal Showtime, como a Melhor Série Drama, e Transparent, distribuída pela internet pela Amazon, como a Melhor Série de Comédia.

As duas séries receberam duas estatuetas cada, mesmo número de prêmios conquistado por Fargo, que disputava a premiação como minissérie. Fargo bateu True Detective, da HBO, que era uma das séries favoritas da crítica.

Outra grande novidade da noite foi o Golden Globe de Melhor Atriz em Comédia para Gina Rodriguez, de Jane the Virgin. Mais do que uma grande vitória para a jovem atriz latina, a estatueta é um marco para o canal The CW. Fundada em 2006, a emissora teen nunca sequer havia sido indicada ao Golden Globe, e saiu da festa com sua primeira estatueta.

Outra atração da noite foi a homenagem a George Clooney, premiado com o prestigioso Cecil B. DeMille Award. O prêmio foi apresentado pelos atores Julianna Margulies e Don Cheadle – colocando junto no palco, portanto, o casal que fez história nas primeiras temporadas do saudoso drama médico ER.
